FIREWORK DISPLAY CANCELLED

We can now confirm that, following further assessment of the current conditions and the latest Government guidance regarding the fire risk in Norfolk, this year's fireworks display has been cancelled.

Since the announcement, we have continued to monitor the situation. Having considered the latest guidance and advice, we have made the responsible decision that the display cannot safely go ahead.

We appreciate that there has been considerable discussion around why a decision was not made sooner. We want to be clear that we were assessing the situation throughout and making decisions based on the information available to us at the time.

Previously, we did not have the Government guidance that has since been issued. We were monitoring the weather and ground conditions and hoping, as many people were, that rainfall would improve the situation. This was never a case of being reckless or ignoring the risks. It was a developing situation, and we were doing what we could to assess it properly before making a decision.

Cromer Carnival is organised by volunteers who give a huge amount of their own time because they care about Cromer and want to provide a safe, enjoyable and successful Carnival for the community. We are not infallible, and we cannot control the weather or circumstances outside of our control. What we can do is listen to the appropriate advice and act when the information tells us that we need to.

That is what we have done.

We are disappointed that the fireworks cannot go ahead, but we are confident that cancelling them is the right decision in the circumstances. Safety has to come first.

We would now really like to draw a line under the fireworks and focus on the rest of Carnival Week.

There is still a huge amount happening, with events, entertainment and activities that our volunteers have worked incredibly hard to organise. We hope the community will continue to support these events and the people who have put so much time and effort into making them happen.

And, if we could have this much interaction on our other posts — but with everyone talking positively about the fantastic things happening across Carnival Week — we'd be absolutely thrilled!

So let's move forward, enjoy Carnival, support our local community and make the most of the week.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, understood the difficult circumstances we have been working with and continues to support the volunteers behind Cromer Carnival.

Now, let's get on with having another fantastic Carnival.

Parade Announcement

We recently announced a new, slightly shorter parade route for our Grand Carnival Parade on Wednesday 19th August 2026. However, after reviewing concerns raised by the Safety Awareness Group and legislation changes, it has been agreed that the parade will revert to the 2024 route. The parade will begin on the Carnival Field, travel through the town, proceed up Mount Street, Louden Road, West Street and along Beach Road, and finish back at the Carnival Field. Here's the map:

Details of classes are on the entry form which can be found in the back of the printed programme and online here at

Thursday Night Illuminated Parade

Unfortunately, recent legislative changes and the cost associated with employing a traffic management company means we have also had to make amendments to the Illuminate Parade on Thursday evening. The following arrangements will apply:

Walkers

  • Meet at the Pier Forecourt.
  • Proceed along the Promenade, up Melbourne Slope, and then along the cliff path to the top of the Runton Road Car Park.

Illuminated Floats

  • Assemble at the east end of the Runton Road Car Park.

The Entry Form can be found at
PDFIlluminated Parade Entry Form160Kb
Once the walkers arrive at the Runton Road Car Park (adjacent to the Blue Sky Café), the full parade will be formed and will proceed together down through the car park to the Carnival Field. We appreciate your understanding and support. These changes have been made to address safety requirements and help ensure that both parades can continue to take place safely.

Carnival 2025

Here's the 2025 Carnival video. You'll need half an hour to view the whole thing; we've made it extra long in 2025 to try and capture more faces. We couldn't attend all the events, but we hope we've captured the spirit of the week, featuring the main community events from Sunday to Thursday.

Walking Treasure Hunt Answers 2025

Still puzzling out that last clue or two? You can find all the answers by clicking here. There was a maximum of 57 points; the two winners scored 55 points and the third place scored 54 points. 55 teams took part, five up on last year; hope you can join in for 2026.

Cromer Pier Birdman 1992

A look back here. Thanks for all the responses on a date for this. We're now pretty certain it's 1992, so we've changed the date on the titles of the archive version.
